Yes, we provide a healthy organic snack for the children. Grade school students bring their own lunches (the early childhood students are picked up before lunch time).
We follow the curative work and original curriculum by Rudolf Steiner/Waldorf that emphasizes age appropriate learning with head, whole body and heart. We are attractive for children that need an individual pace in learning and would benefit from a small classroom focusing on daily movement. We are located in a farm setting and can incoporate nature and farm life into the curriculm. Feel free to contact us for more information.
I grew up in Eastern Germany and attended the General Public School in my home village. There I started to learn handwork, gardening, woodworking and was part of an athletic team. During my free time I spent many hours with my dad in his workshop or in the garden and with my mom at the sewing machine or doing all kinds of other handwork. Home cooking and baking were also a big part of my childhood.
In my twenties, I studied geography and environmental education in Germany and Ireland, worked at the Federal Statistical Office in Bonn, Germany, travelled and started to become more interested in alternative ways of education.
My husband and me moved to Snoqualmie in 2006, the same year my son was born. When my daughter arrived in 2009, we enrolled my son at Three Cedars Waldorf School, Bellevue. The learning concept, school community and outdoor time were what we considered a healthy school environment for my son and our family. Soon after, my daughter started school there as well.
In 2015 I started my Waldorf teacher training. During my work in the classroom I realized that many students need a little more, so I started to look for additional methods to support them. I studied Rudolf Steiner's curative approach to education, interned at the Mulberry Woods Classroom, Fairfax, CA and applied his indications during my part-time job while living in Germany for two years. Last year I taught preschool, kindergarten, and grades 1 through 8 at Eastside Community School, Bellevue, as a substitute teacher.
